The Shift - Issue 2 - is here!
The Shift returns with its second issue, a space for reflection, provocation and progress. As the anti-abelist movement continues to grow, this edition brings together voices, stories and practical insight that challenge how we think, lead and create change across the cultural sector.
At its heart, this issue continues a vital conversation. How do we move beyond intention and into meaningful, embedded anti ableist practice?
We begin with a welcome from Michèle Taylor, setting the tone for the issue and reflecting on the journey so far, both the progress being made and the work still ahead.
From there, we go on the road with Ramps on the Moon, sharing moments, learning and experiences from across the country.
It is a reminder that this work is not happening in isolation. It is being shaped in real time, in real spaces, by real people.

Access to Work: This issue also tackles one of the most pressing challenges facing disabled professionals today. In Access to Work, we take a closer look at a system under strain, asking difficult questions about what support looks like now and what must change moving forward.
Ally or Accomplice: We then turn the spotlight inward with a powerful provocation. Ally or Accomplice which are you? We’re exploring what allyship means with some of our disabled friends, and what it could look like to move from ‘helping people’ to becoming an accomplice.
Exclusive podcast episodes
There is also something special for our readers. Ahead of the official launch of Ramps on the Moon Podcast Season Three later in 2026, we are offering The Shift subscribers exclusive early access to two brand new episodes, bringing you closer to the conversations shaping the sector right now.
Dilemma Desk
In The Dilemma Desk, Michèle Taylor steps in front of the camera to respond to your toughest questions, unseen in advance and grounded in honesty, experience and care. It is a space for the real conversations many are grappling with behind the scenes.

We also share updates from our Change Partners, hearing directly from senior cultural leaders as they reflect on their journeys, challenges and the impact of embedding anti ableist practice within their organisations.
