Ramps on the Moon and Regional Theatre Young Directors Scheme: RTYDS announce partnership

RTYDS – the UK’s foremost programme of paid professional development for directors and theatre makers – has announced several schemes and partnerships that will help to develop talent and address the lack of diversity within the industry, including a partnership with Ramps on the Moon.

Four theatres announced to host 18-Month Residencies providing opportunities for directors or theatre makers

A new partnership with Ramps on the Moon ensures at least one of the 18-Month Residencies for 2020/21 will be awarded to D/deaf or disabled theatre creative.

A new partnership with Access All Areas on an Introduction to Directing project which will seek to provide pathways for learning disabled and autistic directors.

In light of the current COVID-19 health emergency, the recruitment for these schemes has now been paused until further notice. But the spirit of the partnership will continue, and the Ramps on the Moon team will continue to provide practical support as and when it’s appropriate.

RTYDS will be speaking regularly to partner theatres and will continue to monitor the situation closely, with the intention of being able to provide further updates in the summer. They remain committed to providing 18-Month Residencies at Live Theatre Newcastle, Curve Theatre Leicester, Contact Theatre Manchester and Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
